The Truth About Hell Part II

The Truth About Hell

What does the Bible Teach about Hell

Part II

Mark 9:43-47

I. The Description of Hell

  1. Fire that never shall be quenched (Mark 9:43-47)
  2. The furnace of fire (Matthew 13:47-50)
  3. Everlasting fire and everlasting punishment (Matthew 25:31-34, 41, 46)
  4. Everlasting destruction (II Thessalonians 1:7-9)
  5. Eternal fire (Jude 1:7)
  6. A lake of fire and brimstone (Revelation 21:21:8)

II. The Creation of Hell

  1. God prepared Hell for the Devil and his Angels (Matthew 25:41)
  2. God prepared His kingdom for believers (Matthew 25:34)
  3. God is preparing heaven for those who are saved (John 14:2)

III. The Duration of Hell

  1. Hell is forever!
  1. No cessation of suffering (Revelation 14:11)
  2. No cessation of existence (Revelation 20:10, Revelation 19:20)

B. The word “Eternal” clearly defines it

The words used to describe the duration of hell are the same words used:

  1. To describe the existence of God (Romans 16:26, Hebrews 9:14)

2. To express the abiding presence of the Holy Spirit (John 14:16)

3. To describe the duration of salvation (Romans 6:23)

IV. The Reason for Hell

  1. Hell is a manifestation of divine justice.
  1. Hell is not inconsistent with God’s justice.
  2. Hell satisfies the demand of God’s justice.

B. Hell magnifies God’s attributes

The attributes of God:

  1. God is Holy
  2. God is Just
  3. God is Merciful
  4. God is Love

V. The preaching of Hell

Is a strong motivation….

  1. For people to come to Christ
  2. For the believer to persuade men to be saved (II Corinthians 5:11)
  3. For us to give to missions (II Corinthians 5:19-20)

Notes: Pastor David Peterson

Friends,

I pray that you put your trust and faith in Jesus Christ today. Know that there is a heaven and a hell. We are all sinners, but God loves us, and he sent his only son, Jesus Christ, to die on the cross for all the sins of all the world. Jesus was buried and rose again on the third day. If you believe that he did that and he, did it for you, you become a child of his forever! There is nothing you can do to lose your salvation. Now if you do continue to live a life of sin, the Lord will chasten you, just like you would do with your children. So how do you go to heaven? BELIEVE in Jesus, that’s it. So put your trust in Jesus today! If this message made sense to you, please send us a message and let us know. We would love to hear from you.
